Dr. Bernard Vavrek was a faculty member in the Department of Library Science. Upon his retirement in 2009, the university noted that, "though his career was largely associated with rural librarianship, Vavrek provided leadership in other areas of librarianship as well, including the . . .founding of the Information Futures Institute, a think-tank of information specialists around the nation."
