Scope and Contents
Description of the organzation found online 5-5-2021:
KDP was founded in 1911 by the University of Illinois Education Club. In 1925, The Laureate Chapter was created to recognize exceptional living educators. John Dewey was the first member. Other members include Jean Piaget, Howard Gardner, Eleanor Roosevelt, Alfie Kohn, Nel Noddings, and Albert Einstein.
In 1967 the Lambda Eta Chapter of Kappa Delta Pi was established on the Clarion State College campus. Currently, recruitment for new members and initiation occurs each fall semester. To be eligible to join, a candidate must have a 3.2 QPA, be a major in a degree in the School of Education, and have completed 30 credits.
The chapter participates in the KDP national inititive Celebrate Teaching. In addition, the chapter organizes an annual literacy event each Spring. The chapter also participates in service projects that benefit children and families and sponsors CPR/First Aid training, as well as other campus events.
