Scope and Contents

This scrapbook was compiled by J. George Becht.  The scrapbook consists mainly of newspaper clippings relating to Becht, collections of test questions for a large variety of subject areas, interview questions, and the names of students tested for the Common School diploma examination.  The scrapbook also contains materials from the time when Becht served as superintendent of schools In Lycoming County, PA.  Compilations of test questions make up the majority of the scrapbook.

The scrapbook came to the archives with an envelope of additional materials similar to those in the main scrapbook. Those items are available in this supplemental folder. A postcard and a letter in this folder appear to contain Becht's original signature.
