Memo from Ray Moneta, Director of Information Management and Institutional Research providing background information about the 2014 National Survey of Student Engagement (2 pages) This quote from the memo provides context for the survey: "This report covers various statistical areas with regards to the overall quality of our institution. This information is used in conjunction with PASSHE data to provide a comparison between Clarion University and PASSHE Institutions as a whole. Information in this report ranges from student participation in various university events to student satisfaction with university services, activities, and facilities. Student engagement represents two critical features of collegiate quality. The first is the amount of time and effort students put into their studies and other educationally purposeful activities. The second is how institutional resources, courses, and other learning opportunities facilitate student participation in activities that matter to student learning. NSSE surveys first-year and senior students to assess their levels of engagement and related information about their experience at your institution. The purpose of this report is to highlight the areas of excellence, as well as bring attention to areas where Clarion University should aim to improve. The report is broken down into two main survey populations--first year students and seniors. Through the use of these student data, we are better able to clearly identify our institution's strengths and areas for improvement."
