The materials in this folder provide background information on Dr. Robert H. Baldwin: "Dr. Robert H. Baldwin joined the Clarion community in 1971 as the dean of the School of Professional Studies.  He was one of the overseers in the development of the McKeever Environmental Center at Sandy Lake and the Flexible All-Year School at Clarion, a program that during the 1970s was housed in Becker Hall and provided highly individualized instruction for N-12 children.  During Baldwin's term as dean, a number of programs were developed and grew in enrollment, including the Habilitative Sciences program in Special Education (now Rehabilitative Science), Speech Pathology and Audiology (now Communication Sciences and Disorders), and Psychology.  He was one of the leaders of the effort separate psychology from the College of Education and place it in the College of Arts and Sciences.  In 1975-76, Baldwin helped to initiate an Honors Colloquium for exceptional students; the program was the predecessor of Clarion University's present Honors Program.  Following the resignation of his deanship in 1981, Baldwin was named director of field services and a half-time professor.  He transferred to full-time faculty status in 1983.  Baldwin remains the only dean ever elected to Clarion University's Faculty Senate, serving from 1972-75 and from 1978-88.  He chaired many committees and was a member of the Committee on Committees and Rules which redrafted the Faculty Senate constitution and by-laws in 1983-84.  He also served as a director of the Clarion University Foundation from 1979-84, including three years as president, 1981-84.  Baldwin received his B.A. in philosophy and M.A.T. in secondary education from Wesleyan University, certificate as NSF Fellow at Allegheny College, and Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh.  In 1993, Baldwin was honored by the Clarion University Alumni Association with its Distinguished Service Award.  Dr. Baldwin died on September 8, 1997."
