Quote from brochure: "The purpose of the Clarion University African American History Trail is to commemmorate the places and to showcase the people who participated in this important history. Because of this rich legacy, the Clarion University Frederick Douglass Program has created this African American History Trail to identify the specific sites that mark the important work of local, regional, and national abolitionists. The African American History Trail begins in Brookville, and it extends through Clarion County into Venango County. Clarion University's Venango campus is the terminus of our tri-county region's African American freedom trail. Located on the famous Allegheny River, the Venango campus sits on the banks of this road to freedom."
