Summary: The Women’s Conference was instituted in 1983 by a group of university women who saw the need for women to come together to teach and empower each other. A major concern in planning the conference is to showcase a scholarship of inclusion that so that all wome, regarless of class, race, ethnicity, disabling conditions, sexual orientation, and education background, can meet on a common ground to celebrate and explore the unique esperiences of accomplishments of women. Another unifying principle of the conference is to provide leadership education so that women may become change agents in their own lives and in broader contexts, such as family, and local and global communities.
